Privacy Policy

This policy covers the games made by Bohnson ("we", "us"), which are Maze Wars, Burger Factory, and Hilbert's Grand Hotel, and this website.

Information our games collect

Advertising (Google AdMob)

The Android versions of our games use Google AdMob, a service of Google LLC, to show ads. To serve and measure ads and to prevent fraud, the AdMob SDK may collect and process:

• Device identifiers, such as your Android advertising ID and app set ID
• Your IP address, which can indicate your approximate location
• Device and app information, such as device model, operating system version, language, and app version
• Ad interactions, such as which ads were shown, viewed, or tapped
• Diagnostic information, such as crash logs and performance data

Google handles this data under its own Privacy Policy. For details, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

Google may show personalized ads based on your activity. Where the law requires it, for example in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, you'll be asked for consent before personalized ads are shown. You can change that choice later from the game's settings.

You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalized ads at any time in your Android settings, usually under Settings → Google → Ads or Settings → Privacy → Ads.

Online play (Maze Wars)

When you play Maze Wars online, the game connects to our servers. Our servers receive:

• Your IP address, which is needed to connect you to other players
• Your in-game name, if you set one
• Match data, such as your actions in the game and match results

The Maze Wars launcher also contacts our servers to check for and download updates, which means our servers see your IP address and your installed game version.

We use this information only to run matches, keep the game updated, fix bugs, and prevent cheating and abuse.

Saves and settings

Your game progress and settings are stored on your device. We can't see them, and uninstalling the game deletes them.

What we don't collect

Our games don't collect your name, email address, contacts, precise location, photos, or microphone or camera data. The only times we receive your email address are when you sign up for a beta or email us. We don't sell personal information, and we only share it with the services described in this policy.

This website

This website doesn't use cookies, analytics, or trackers. Like most websites, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, such as your IP address and the pages you requested, to keep the site running and secure.

Our community is on Discord. If you join it, Discord's Privacy Policy applies, and anything you post there is visible to other members.

Beta sign-ups

You can sign up to test Maze Wars and Burger Factory before they launch, using a Google Form linked from this website. Signing up is optional and has nothing to do with playing the released games.

What we collect

• Your email address. For a Google Play beta, this must be the Google account you use on your Android device.
• For Maze Wars, which platform you want to test on: Steam or Google Play (Android).
• Your agreement to us using your email address to run the beta.

The forms don't ask you to sign in and don't collect anything else for us. Your answers are stored in Google Forms and linked Google Sheets in our Google account, along with whether we approved your request and, for Steam, which key we sent you. Each sign-up sends us an email notification with your address and platform so we can reply.

How we use it

We use your email address only to run the beta: to send you a Steam playtest key or a Google Play opt-in link, and to send beta news, such as a new test build or the end of the beta. We don't add you to a marketing list, and we don't sell your email address.

Who we share it with

• Google: the forms, responses, and notifications run on Google's services. For a Google Play beta, we add your email address to a private Google Group that serves as the game's tester list in Google Play Console, so Google can let that account opt in and install the test build. Only we can see the group's members, and it's never used to send you mail. Google handles this under its Privacy Policy.
• Steam: we send you a key by email and don't share your address with Valve. When you redeem the key, Steam's Privacy Policy applies.

Leaving a beta

To leave a beta, email us at j@bohnson.ca from the address you signed up with. We'll delete your sign-up, and if you're on a Google Play tester list, we'll remove you from it, which ends your access to the test build.

How long we keep data

• Game server logs: deleted after 30 days, unless we need them longer to investigate cheating or abuse.
• Beta sign-ups: kept until the beta ends, then deleted within 90 days, which also removes you from the tester list and the form responses.
• Emails you send us: kept until your request is resolved, then deleted.
• Advertising data: kept by Google according to Google's retention policies.

Your choices and rights

• You can reset your advertising ID or turn off personalized ads in your Android settings, as described above.
• Uninstalling the games stops all further data collection.
• You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing us at the address below. We don't use accounts, so please include your in-game name and roughly when you played, or the email address you signed up for a beta with, so we can find your data. We'll respond within 30 days.
• You can leave a beta at any time, as described in Beta sign-ups.

Depending on where you live, for example in the EEA, the UK, Canada, or California, you may have other rights, such as correcting your data or objecting to how it's used. Contact us to use any of these rights. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

Our games are not directed at children under 13, or under the minimum age required in your country. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the data our servers receive. However, no method of transmitting or storing data is completely secure.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date above. If the changes are significant, we'll also announce them in the game or on our Discord.
